Ralph J. Allison, 76

St. Marys, W.Va. -- Ralph J. Allison, 76, died April 6, 2004, at the Marietta Center for Health and Rehabilitation. He was born Sept. 15, 1927, in Newell, W.Va., a son of the late Jonathan Ralph and Dessie Bower Allison. He was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in St. Marys. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force with over 24 years reaching the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He was a veteran of both the Vietnam War and The Korean Conflict. He loved gardening, family and friends. He is survived by one daughter, USAF Lt. Col. Sandra A. Wheeler of Schertz, Texas; one son, Gary C. Allison of Harrisburg, Pa.; two grandchildren, Heather R. Wheeler and Jonathan M. Nellis both of Schertz; one brother, Clarence Allison of Newell; two sisters, Louise Britt and her husband William of East Liverpool and Katherine Rennix of Newell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Margaret Allison, one son, Jonathan B. Allison, two brothers, Blaine Allison and William Allison and one sister, Margurite Sfakis. Funeral services will be Friday, April 9, 2004, at noon at the Ingram Funeral Home with the Rev. Lisa Heller officiating. Calling hours will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. to noon Friday. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, St. Marys with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post 79, VFW Post 222 and AMVETS Post 40. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, C/O Debbie Thompson, P.O. Box 246, Belmont, WV, 26134.
