Jonathon Allison
Jonathon Ralph Allison, 63, of St. Mary's, W. Va., Route 2, a former resident of Newell, died Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Hospital in Parkesburg, W. Va., after a long illness. He was born in Pleasants County (W. Va.) July 19, 1902, son of the late Jonathon Allison and Alice Brown Allison. He resided in Newell for 40 years and worked as a kiln fireman at the former Edwin M. Knowles China Co. until it suspended operations in August 1964. He then left for St. Marys. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Dessie Mae Allison, at home; four sons, Master Sgt. Ralph Allison Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Blaine Allison of New Cumberland, William Lyle Allison of East Liverpool and Clarence Allison of Newell; three daughters, Mrs. Marguerite Sfakis of East Liverpool, Mrs. Louise Jackson and Mrs. Kathryn Rennex, both of Newell; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Pritchett of Calcutta, and 20 grandchildren. Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the East Liverpool Arner Home for Funerals by the Rev. Hollie Thompson, a Methodist minister from Parkersburg. Burial will be in Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens, Newell. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday after 7:30 p.m. and Sunday.
