As a young girl, she attended schools in many towns of MN, and in fourth grade, she was in Asquith, Sask., Canada. She did not graduate from school.
Close to age 17, Esther and her sister Grace ("Bonnie") left home and went to Davenport, Iowa.
They went to work for the Silver Top Cab Company.
Eventually, they hitch-hiked to Billings, MT, where they had learned their older sister Myrtle ("Betty") was working.
In 1954, Esther met Richard Behrendt and they were married on 4 June 1955, in Billings, MT. They eventually moved to Cody, WY. where their only child, Richard, was born in 1957.
From WY, they moved to Montrose, CO, where they had a bit of land and apple orchards.
Esther's husband, Richard, died on 8 June 1991.
Esther remained in this home for some years, then moved to Grand Junction, CO where her son lived.
Her health had been failing for some years, and she died in Grand Junction on 30 Sept. 2007.
