Mrs. Birkhofer was born March 11, 1928, in West Liberty, the daughter of Clark R. and Erma E. (Finley) Askam. She married Howard Birkhofer March 16, 1946, in Muscatine. She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jackie Howard in 1969; four brothers, Walter, Herbert, Clark and Lester; six sisters, Wilma, Marie, Dorothy, Florence, Margaret and Helen.
