Clark Askam, 64, Called in Death; Rites Wednesday

Clark Askam, 64, 1005 East Eighth Street, died at 2 a.m. today at Bellevue Hospital.
The son of James and Geneva Reid Askam, he was born April 11, 1889, at West Liberty. He had been a resident of Muscatine since starting work at the Roach and Musser factory 16 years ago.
He married Erma Evelyn Finley Dec. 4, 1912, at Rock Island. He was baptized in the Methodist church.
Surviving are the wife; seven daughters, Mrs. Wilma Fiagle, Moline, Mrs. Florence Thurston, Wilton, Mrs. Betty Birkhofer, Moscow, Mrs. Marie Snider, Mrs. Dorothy Heston and Mrs. Helen Kaalberg, all of Muscatine, and Margaret, at home; Five sons, Walter and Herbert Askam, both of Muscatine, and Lester, Leo and Clark, Jr; all at home; two brothers, George and Reuben Askam, both of West Liberty; and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the Fairbanks Home for funerals with the Rev. Lester Moore, pastor of the Park Avenue Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
