Patriot, Jul 18, 1908:
Edna, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Schwoyer died of inflammation of the bowels at the home of her parents, in Maxatawny Township, about two mile northeast of this borough. Her age was 16 years and 2 months. Deceased was ill since December 1907, but was only confined to bed eight days. Besides the parents these brothers and sisters remain: Walter, of Bowers: Mary, wife of William Wolf, of Reading; Miss Ida, of Reading; Oscar and Jacob, of Maxatawny; Cora, wife of Clinton Braucher, of Kutztown; Carrie, Minnie, Howard, Elton and Irvin, all at Home. Deceased was a member ofSt. John's Lutheran and St. John's Reformed Sunday School, of this borough. The funeral was held on Thursday, July 16, at 1:30 p.m. at the house. Services in St. John's Church, this place, Rev. 1. 1. Cressman, Lutheran pastor, officiated. Funeral director 1. H. Stump had charge.
Deceased was a steady young girl, and her connection with the tenth hour is an extremely rare occurrence. She was born in the tenth hour on May 10; baptized July 10, taken sick on the tenth hour and died on the tenth hour on July 10th.
The funeral was largely attended. The remains were attired in her blue silk dress and reposed in a square quartered oak drop-side coach casket with silver extension bar handles, silver trimmings and a plate on the lid on which was inscribed the name and aged of the deceased. The covering for the body was an eiderdown blanket. The pall bearers were: Charles Stufllet, George Boger, Eugene Knittle and Alvin Knittle. Among the many floral tributes were the following: Wheel of artificial flowers with a broken spoke, family; carnations and·roses, brother Walter and wife and sister Ida; carnations, Florence E. Schwoyer, R. A. Wessner and wife, St. John's Lutheran Sunday School, brother Jacob and wife; sweet peas, Misses Weikusat; wax roses, Clinton Braucher.
