Irwin S. Swoyer, Son of Jacob S. Swoyer and his wife (nee Deisher), died very suddenly last Friday at the home of his brother, Jacob, near town. The cause of death was pleurisy. He was only sick for one week. He was a machinist by trade and worked last at the Bethlehem Steel Works. He moved on his father's farm, near Kemp's Hotel, with the intention of starting to farm this spring. He had secured the greater part of the farm stock and was ready to begin. He attained the age of 21 years, 10 months and 2 days.
He is survived by his wife, Irma (nee Derr), his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob S. Swoyer, and the following brother and sisters: Walter, of Bowers; Oscar Jacob and Howard, of Maxatawny Township; Elton, of Norristown; Mary, wife of Wm. Wolf, Reading; Cora, wife of Clinton Braucher, Kutztown; Carrie, wife of Charles Dougherty, of Maxatawny Township, and Ida and Minnie, at home.
The funeral was held on Thursday, April 4, at 1:30 p.m., with services at the home of the parents and in Kutztown and in St. John's Lutheran Church, Rev. J. W. Bittner officiating. Interment was made in Hope Cemetery. Undertaker Jacob 1. Schofer, of Topton, had charge. Members of Washington Camp, No. 677, P.O. of A., of Kutztown, of which deceased was a member, were the bearers.
