Elmer Jesse Haskins, 84, of Huntsville, died Feb. 16, 2004, at the Northwest Medical Center of Washington County in Springdale. He was born March 5, 1919, at Combs, the son of Clarence and Rachel Shipp Haskins. He worked as a logger in Oregon, a carpenter in Huntsville and retired from the Huntsville Public Schools were he worked as a maintenance man. He was a member of the Church of Christ and studied the Bible all of his life.

He was preceded in death by one son, two brothers, two sisters and one granddaughter.

Survivors include: his wife of 60 years, Bernice Sisemore Haskins of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Jim Whittemore of Huntsville and Wanda and Larry Busbea of North Little Rock; two sisters, Golda Keith of Des Moines, Wash., and Lenice Small of Grand Junction, Colo.; three grandsons and two granddaughters-in-law, Brent and Betty Jo Hargis of Marble, Aaron and Shawna Haskins of Westville, Okla. and Larry Dale Busbea of New York; one granddaughter, Angela Hargis of Lowell; three great-grandsons, Richard Coger, Jason Hargis and Josh Haskins; and one great-granddaughter, Amanda Hargis.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Huntsville Cemetery with Tommy Glenn, Minister officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville.
