Rye Henderson Myers, age 87, passed away peacefully with family at her side March 3, 2011 at Carneys Point Care Center.
Born August 31, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Katie Owen Henderson. Mrs. Myers married her husband Charles, April 20, 1940. She was a lifelong resident of Salem County and worked at the Salem Custard Stand for many years. Then later managed, for several years along with her husband, the Chestnut Terrace Apartments in Salem. After that, they retired to Village Arms Apartments in Carneys Point and enjoyed many fall trips to New England. When her husband passed away in 2000, Rye later moved to the Lindsay House in Pennsville and then on to Carneys Point Care in 2010.
She is survived by her son, Charles Myers Jr. and wife Charlene of Pennsville, grandson, Charles (Chuck) Myers III of Houston, Texas, great granddaughter, Chole A. McCoin of Woodlands, TX; daughter, Diane Smith, grandson, Robert Smith of Rising Sun, MD; daughter Joanna Myers of Avondale, PA; grandaughter, Christinia A. Doerr of Pennsville; and brother, Allen L. Henderson of New Providence, PA.
In addition to be predeceased by her husband, she is predeceased by her granddaughter, Tammy S. Myers, brother, Herbert Henderson; sisters, Ruth Henderson, Adelia Petarausshke, Anna Osborn, Carolyn Headley, Catherine Fay, Dorothy Danbury, Gertrude Sealy, Helen Reeves, June Wolfe, and Margaret Thomas.
Funeral services will be private. Arrangements are by Woodside Funeral Home, Salem.
