Volumnia was the only daughter of Fielding Hefling & Sarah Elizabeth Billingsley. She lived at home until she married on December 10, 1863 to Dr. Saint Clair Streett, the Tippecanoe physician and surgeon. He was married previously and had two children in Maryland. (Saint Clair was her brother Darius' preceptor as he studied to become a physician.) After Saint Clair's death, Volumnia worked as a servant, living at Tippecanoe. In 1880, she was living with her stepfather, half-sister, and daughter near Deersville. After her daughter, Mary Samantha, married, Volumnia went to live with her. She died there near the hamlet of Tariff (now extinct), of gastric fever. While her husband had a monument on their cemetary plot, she never did, so in 1998, one hundred years after her death, one was set.
