Harold W. Purdy, 72, of Fort Wayne, died yesterday in The Arbors at Fort Wayne.

The Star City native retired in 1980 as secretary-treasurer of GTE North after 32 years, was a veteran of World War II and a member of Crescent Avenue United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia L., a daughter, Barbara L. Bazur of LaOtto, a son, Harold W. Jr. of Lexington, Ky., sisters, Freda B. Hines of Walton and Mary L. McMillian of Donovan, Ill., four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Services are 1 p.m. tomorrow in D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., where calling is 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens.

Preferred memorials are gifts to the church or Allen County Cancer Society.
