Hattie M. Stark , 75, Massena, died at 3 p.m. Friday at Massena Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since Sept. 2.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Donaldson Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Brown officiating. Burial will be in Bixby Cemetery, Norfolk.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where members of Laurentian Chapter 666, Order of the Eastern Star, Brasher Falls, will conduct services at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Contributions may be made to the Massena Rescue Squad.
Surviving are three sons, Wayne A. Jr. and Harold R., both of Massena, and Paul L., Rochester; two grandchildren, a great-grandchild; three sisters, Louise Munson and Mrs. Leonard (Helen) Brown, both of Potsdam, and Mrs. Jay (Marion) Jeffers, Brushton, and two brothers, Wilfred French, Brookeland, Texas, and Robert French, Norfolk.
A sister, Ida Shantie, and five brothers, Harvey, Francis, Melvin, Arthur and John French, died before her.
Born April 5, 1918, in Watertown, daughter of Homer and Mae Derouchie French, she graduated from Norwood-Norfolk High School and married Wayne A. Stark Sept. 26, 1936, in the First Methodist Church with the Rev. Barber Waters officiating.
Mrs. Stark ran Hattie's Greenhouse for several years. She and her husband also operated a store in Massena. Mr. Stark died July 9, 1980.
Mrs. Stark was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a life member of Laurentian Chapter 666, Order of the Eastern Star, Brasher Falls.
She was a member of Rebekah Lodge 348, St. Lawrence County Pomona Grange, the New York State Chapter of the Home Bureau, the Norwood Golden Agers, the Hilltoppers Senior Citizens, the Tri-Town Senior Citizens, Brasher Falls, and the Jolly Agers Senior Citizens, Norfolk.
