Ida Mae Shantie, 56, of 306 West Second St., Starbuck, Wash., formerly of Norfolk, died Jan. 12 at Deaconess Medical Center, Spokane, Wash. The funeral was scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hubbard Rogg Chapel, with the Rev. Dale White and the Rev. Dick Sanders officiating. Burial was in Pomeroy City Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Deaconess Medical Center Heart Fund, Spokane, Wash. Surviving are her husband, Robert; two daughters, Nancy Pounds and Sally Fowler, both of Kennewick, Wash; three brothers, Melvin French, Massena, Robert French, Norfolk, and Wilford French; four sisters, Hattie Start, Massena, Marion Jeffery, North Bangor, Louise Munson and Helen Brothers, both of Potsdam; nine grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Two sons, Tom and David, and three brothers, Harvey, Francis and Arthur, died before her. Born at Norfolk on Oct. 10, 1933, a daughter of Homer and Mary Derouchie French, she attended Norfolk schools. She married Robert Shantie on June 24, 1950, at North Lawrence. Mrs. Shantie was a member of the Starbuck Rebekah Lodge.
