Homer A. French, 66, a resident of the Norfolk area most of his life, died Wednesday night, Feb. 19, 1958, at 11 o'clock at his farm home near Waddington on the Van Rensselaer Rd. He had been in failing health the past year, suffering from a heart condition. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 10 in St. Mary's Church, Waddington, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Robert J. Arquette, pastor, officiating. The body was placed in the Calvary Cemetery vault in Norwood to await burial there in the Spring. Mr. French was born Aug. 4, 1891 in Norwood, the only child of Henry and Hattie Long French. He and Mary E. Deroushia, daughter of Frank Deroushia of Stockholm, were married Feb. 12, 1911. She died in 1945. About eight years ago he married Mrs. Inez Robinson McManus and they resided on the Plumbrook Rd. about a year and then bought the farm home near Waddington. Surviving are his wife: five sons, Harvey, Raymondville, Francis and Melvin, Massena, Wilfred, Norfolk, and Robert, Madrid; five daughters, Mrs. Everett (Louise) Munson, Potsdam, Mrs. Wayne (Hattie) Stark, Massena, Mrs. Donald (Marion) Jackson, Winthrop, Mrs. Leonard (Helen) Brothers, Potsdam, and Mrs. Robert (Ida) Shantie, Madrid. Also surviving are two stepsons, Roy and Jack McManus, Syracuse. A son, Arthur French, was killed last June in an auto accident.
