Mrs. Catharine Schmahl Of Town Of Rhine Is Summoned.
Mrs. Catharine Schmahl, 74, life-long resident of Rhine, Sheboygan County, died Wednesday morning at 6:45 o'clock at her home in the town of Rhine, one and one half miles north east of Elkhart Lake.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30p.m. at the Schmahl home and 2p.m. at Trinity Evangelical Church at Elkhart Lake. The Rev.Otto J.Saewert will officiate and interment will be made in the church cemetery in the town of Rhine. Relatives and friends can view the body at the Schmahl home preceding the services. The coffin will not be opened at the church.
Mrs. Schmahl was born in the town of Rhine, Sheboygan County, 28th May, 1861, the only daughter of Henry and Katharine Pfleger Reineck. In 1873 the family moved to the present home in the town of Rhine where she lived until the time of her death. On 21st March, 1875, Mrs. Schmahl was confirmed in the Reformed Church in the town of Rhine by the Rev.Ludwig Zenk. On 28th June, 1881, she was united in marriage to Henry Schmahl by the Rev.Frank Grether. To this union ten children were born. Mr. Schmahl preceded his wife in death 24 years ago on 11th December, 1911. Four daughters also have died.
Survivors are:three sons, Christian and Fred at home,and the Rev.Carl G.Schmahl of Cleveland,Wis.; three daughters, Mrs.Philip J.Kuhn of the town of Rhine; Wilhelmina and Elizabeth, at home and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Schmahl was a member of the Ladies Aid Society at Elkhart Lake.
