She was born April 16, 1925, in Chilton to the late Martin and Magdalena (Gruber) Geiser. She graduated from Chilton High School in 1943, attended business school and worked in Sheboygan before returning to Chilton. Leona married Martin F. Schneider on April 9, 1947, in Chilton. He preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1976. She enjoyed camping with her grandchildren, playing Scrabble and Sheepshead with family and friends, and tending her garden every summer. Leona was a homemaker for most of her life, but also worked for several years at Calumet Memorial Hospital in Chilton after the death of Martin.
She was a lifetime member of the Catholic Knights, Charlestown Branch, where she held the position of secretary for many years. She was also a member of the St. Augustine Christian Mothers and Altar Society, the Eagles Club Auxiliary and the hospital auxiliary.
Survivors include three daughters, Anne (Mark) Reinkober of North Royalton, Ohio, Karen James of Oak Creek, and Susan (Jeffrey) Scheele of New Berlin; four sons, Father Ronald Schneider of Chilton, Dennis (Carolyn) Schneider of Madison, Daniel (Lauren Attinello) Schneider of New York City and Roger (Nancy) Schneider of Milwaukee; nine grandchildren, Ben, Lauren and Allie Reinkober, Erin (Marcus) Davis, Nicholas James, Katie and Michael Schneider, Christopher Scheele and Benjamin Schneider; two stepgrandchildren, Cherie (Michael) Anderson and Cindi (Jon) Mitchell; one great-grandchild, Amber Davis; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Lauren Rivera, Ryan Anderson and Alex Mitchell; special family member, Carol George; three sisters, Loretta Keuler, Alice Geiser and Evelyn (Donald) Konen, all of Chilton; four brothers, Arnold Geiser, Alfred Geiser and Roger (Lois) Geiser of Chilton and Gerald Geiser of Hilbert; three sisters-in-law, Valeria Hansen, Eileen Schneider and Theresa Schneider; one brother-in-law, Paul Kees. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert in 1997; a sister, Viola; and three brothers, Norbert, Arthur and Alvin Geiser.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 3, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Chilton with her son, the Rev. Ron Schneider officiating. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery.
