Carpenter's foreman with U. S. Engineer's of Arkabutla Lake, Life expired on Monday Sept. 28, 1970 at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis. He was born Jan. 17, 1917 in Tishomingo,Co., to Earnie and Lucy James Malone.
Mr. Malone was secretary-treasurer of Northeast Mississippi Shriners and had served in all offices of the Masonic Lodge 409. He was a member of the Coldwater Baptist Church, and had served as president of the brotherhood. Also a member of the Lions Club. He had served in the C.C.C. Camp at Tishomingo State Park in the latter part of 1930.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Opal Rushing Malone, of whom he married on Nov. 05, 1938, two daughters, Wanda Howe (Carlton) and Judy Rushing (Max) of Senatobia, One son, Jimmy Rushing Malone, stationed with with US Air Force in Thialand; Three grandchildren, Carla Howe, Cherie and Pam Malone; six sisters, Mrs. Hiram Searcy, of Dennis, Mrs. Charley Posey and Mr. Elton Bruton of Belmont, Mrs. Virgie Waddle, of Zion, Ill, Mrs. Herman Sartain and Mrs. James Haynie both of Corinth, five brothers, Elree and Preston of Belmont, Lumis of Horn Lake, MS., M/Sgt. Reece Malone, US Air Force, stationed in Lubbock, Tx., and Staff Sgt. Vester Wayne (Sam) Malone, US Air Force, stationed in Guam.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday Sept. 30, 1970, at the Coldwater Baptist Church with Rev. Anthony Kay officiaating. Burial was in the Coldwater Cemetery with Brantley Funeral Home of Hernado in charge,
He was a native of Belmont and the Son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Rushing of Tishomingo.
