MR. MALONE DIES AT COMMUNITY HOSPITAL

Belmont, MS~~Mr. Curgus Earnie Malone, born in Colbert, Co., Ala., February 23, 1891, to Amos and Mollie Malone, life expired April 29, 1954 at the Community Hospital in Corinth. Mr. Malone was 63 years, 2 months and 6 days of age. He had lived a full usefull christian life, was a good companion, father and neighbor and his passing has cast a shadow of sorrow over the entire neighborhood. He had been a tiller of the soil for many years and a successful farmer.

At the age of 47 he became a member of the Church of Christ at Liberty, being baptized in Aug. 1938. He had served as a deacon and treasurer of the Church until his health had failed and he resigned Jan, 1954.

February 22, 1910 he was married to Miss Dora Lucille James, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. E. James of Pleasant Site. Survivor, his wife, Lucy Malone; fourteen children were born to this union; twelve of whom survived. Six sons; Virgil, of Coldwater, Elree, of Corinth, Lumis, of Memphis, A/2c Reece, Keesler Field, Biloxi, MS, A/3c Wayne (Sam), of Alexanderia, La., Preston, of Dennis. Six daughters; Clara Searcy, of Dennis, Geraldine Sartain and Lorene Haynie, of Corinth, Deck, Virgie and Rachel Malone, all of Dennis. There are nine grandchildren, Louise Clingan, of Nashville, Wyvil, Tommye and Libbye Sartain, of Corinth, Wanda, Jimmy and Judy Malone, of Coldwater. Mike Haynie, of Corinth, and Debbie Malone, of Corinth.
Four brothers; Earlie, of Belmont, Jessie, of Tishomingo, Fred, of Cherokee, and Dalton Malone of Stratford, Texas, and one sister, Mrs. Bill Cox of Red Bay. and a host of friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Susie Winchester, and an infant sister,Vera Mae Malone

Funeral service were held on Friday afternoon April 30th. 1954, at the Liberty Church of Christ at Dennis, with Bro. Lindsey Allen, Minister of Foote Street Church of Christ in Corinth, and Tommy Rosenbloom of Belmont Church of Christ officiating in the presence of a large circle of relatives and friends.
