Born in St. Didace, Quebec, he was a son of the late Thomas and Rosanna (Dupras) Barrette.
At the time of his death, he was the oldest member, and a past president of Club Par X. He was a member of the senior citizens groups at St. Agatha's, St. Joan's and Holy Family Churches. He was a member of the Carpenters Union, Local 271.
Besides his wife he leaves six sons, Ernest, Raymond and Richard Barrette, all of Woonsocket, Gerard Barrette of Jamestown, Emile Barrette of Peoria, Ariz., and Roland Barrette of Worcester; eight daughters, Pauline Ethier, Cecile Leclerc, Therese Pelland and Helene Cloutier, all of Woonsocket, Alice Leduc of Cumberland, Jeanne Boffi of Warwick, Rita Martin of Lincoln and Suzanne Theroux of North Smithfield; two brothers, Alphonse and Lucien Barrette, both of Woonsocket; four sisters, Robertine Barrette and Marie Barrette, both of Woonsocket, Sister Marie Blanche Barrette, S.S.A., and Sister Rita Barrette, S.S.A., both of Marlboro, Mass.; 41 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 9 a.m. from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Ann's Church, Cumberland Street. Burial will be in Precious Blood Cemetery.
