Eldora Gutschow, 89, formerly of Kiel, passed away Wednesday morning, June 2, 2004 at Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein, where she resided the past three years.
She is the former Eldora Mathes born Nov. 18, 1914, in the town of Schleswig, daughter of the late William and Martha Suhr Mathes. On July 22, 1933, Eldora married Norman Gutschow at Zion Evangelical Lutheran church, Louis Corners, where she had been a lifetime member. The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Eldora and Norman farmed in School Hill until retirement, and then moved to Kiel. She loved playing cards and spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Norman of Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center; one daughter, Gloria (Orville) Valenstein of Sheboygan Falls; one son, Robert (June) Gutschow of Kiel; and nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Hass of Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center and Luetta Wollersheim of Florida. She was preceded in death by four sisters, six brothers and one great grandson.
Funeral services will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Louis Corners, with the Rev. Ted Olsen officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
