Clarence R. Mathes Sheboygan Press August 6, 1968

Clarence R. Mathes, 55, of Woodstock, Ill., a former Town of Schleswig resident, died Monday night at Passevant Hospital in Chicago. Born Nov. 21, 1912, in the Town of Schleswig, he was a son of the late William and Martha Suhr Mathes. He attended the district school. He never married. He was employed by a telephone parts company at Woodstock the past 30 years.
Survivors include five sisters, Mrs. Arthur Dedering of Kiel, Mrs. Clarence Strassmann and Mrs. Ray Hass, both of New Holstein, Mrs. Norman Gutschow of rural Kiel and Mrs. Alfred Wollersheim of Manitowoc, and two brothers, Lester of rural New Holstein and Rueben of Kiel.
Funeral services will be held at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, the Rev. Newton E. Barrett, associate pastor of the United Church of Christ. Manitowoc, officiating. Burial will be in the Schleswig Cemetery at Rockville.
