Abbie Ruth Akers, age 90, of Fulton, Missouri passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Mexico, Missouri on Tuesday, August 18, 2020.
Abbie was born August 15, 1930, in Centertown, Missouri, the daughter of William L. Butcher and Maude Ellen (Richardson) Butcher.
Abbie was married to Diamond Lewis Young on October 5, 1946. diamond preceded her in death on May 14, 1946. She then married Charles Edward Akers on February 22, 1956 and Charles preceded her in death on September 20, 1992.
Abbie was a member of the Reform Baptist Church for many years and also Dry Fork Baptist Church.
Abbie had a caring nature. She worked as a aide and caregiver at Kingdom Nursing Home and also sold subscriptions to Kingdom Daily News and won a new car for the most subscribers.
Abbie will be remembered as a loving mother and for having a smile and story for everyone she met. She was everyone's grandma and will be missed by her many friends.
Abbie will be fondly remembered by sons, Charles Lee Akers (Bonnie), Diamond Young and Roger Young (Anita), daughters, Linda Sue Davidson and Sally Ann LaGess; daughter-in-law, Belinda Akers; sister, Opal Salmons; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; special sister, Hazel Gerrard.
In addition to parents and husbands, Diamond Young and Edward Akers, Abbie is preceded by sons, Roy Lee Young, Clifford Akers and infant son, Rondel Ray; fifteen siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Maupin Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Akers officiating. Friends will be received from 5:00-7:00pm on Friday, August 21, 2020 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Steedman Cemetery.
Memorial donations are suggested to Dry Fork Baptist Church.
