Elizabeth was the fourth of eight children born to John Taphorn and Sophia Von Bokern. On 25 Nov 1907 she married Andrew Calvin Gardner and they had eleven children: Andrew, Evelyn, Dorothy, Nellis, Mary, Joseph, Vera, Colletta, John, Sophia, and Dolores. She died at the age of 92.
