Rites scheduled Saturday for victim of drowning
The funeral for Ernest "Barney" W. Buske is 11 a.m. Saturday at Peace United Church of Christ with the Rev. Carl R. Schroedel officiating. Burial will be in Oronoco Cemetery.
Mr. Buske, 74, of 1530 Fourth Ave. N.W., was found dead Wednesday along the beach at his summer home at Cross Lake, Minn. Crow Wing County Coroner Dr. James B. Nixon ruled the death an accidental drowning.
He was born Dec. 1, 1907, in Rochester, where he married Inez Wenzel on Nov. 8, 1930. A lifelong Rochester resident, Mr. Buske was a carpenter and homebuilder until retiring in 1974. Mrs. Buske, a retired employee of the Olmsted County Department of Social Services, survives.
Mr. Buske was a member of Carpenters Union Local 1318 and had once served as president of the local union.
Survivors also include three sons, Richard W. and Donald L., both of Rochester, and William G. of Parsons, Kan.; three daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Janet) Matthews of Douglas, Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Stuve of Rochester, and Mrs. William (Phyllis) Marshall of Houston, Texas; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Merlin of Rochester and Lyle of St. Charles; and three sisters, Mrs. Marie Schlee and Mrs. Archie (Frances) Skare, both of Rochester, and Mrs. Floyd (Helen) Peterson of Milltown, Wis. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends may call at Ranfranz Funeral Home from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until the service Saturday.
