COOK
Orval Cook, son of Andrew and Isabel Kinney Cook, was born in Lacona, Ia., on Jan. 7, 1900 and died at Lucas County Health Center on Sept. 11, 1986, at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 4 days.
He was united in marriage to Margaret Elizabeth Smith on Nov. 28, 1921. To this union one son was born, Charles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, his mother and father, 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
He is survived by his son, Charles and daughter-in-law, Catherine, 3 grandchildren, Florence Abbas and husband Donald, David and wife Barbara, Eugene and wife Jean. Seven great-grandchildren, Todd, Terry, Tony and Tonia Abbas; Brenda and Teresa Cook; and Jamie Cook.
He is also survived by one brother, Clarence and wife Vera of Osceola; one brother-in-law and four sisters-in-law; lots of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Orval farmed most of his life in Clarke and Lucas counties. He retired in July, 1970 and moved to Chariton.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 15, 1986, at 1:30 at Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton. Conducting the services was the Rev. Virgil Shickell of Collins, Ia. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bill Cook, Howard Cook, David Cook, Kenneth King, Russell Long and Vernon Sams.
