He was my grandpa! He lived with us for a number of years and always helped take care of us and made things for us. I remember he loved pansies and planted them in a tree stump planter every year and I still have that picture in my memory of him standing there, "deadheading" the pansies. He was a good gardener, loved being outdoors, and being with family; he loved our two dogs and living with us on the acreage on the edge of town. He lived a simple life. Tillman Leroy Cook was survived by 5 daughters and one son; 5 brothers and one sister. He was in failing health for about 5 years and died of lung cancer at the University Hospitals in Iowa City. One sister and two brothers preceded him in death. We know we will see him again some day - he's waiting for us on the other side.
