Sally Brunts was the daughter of John Brunts, Sr. and his first wife Bathsheba from Kentucky, who married 16 June 1803. They later moved to Missouri and he was in Howard Co. MO. as early as 1822 and later moved to Platte County, MO where he died 11 Dec. 1849.

Sally Brunts was 2nd in birth order of 12 children born to this first marriage. Eleven daughters and one son. Sally married 16 Feb 1826* in Howard County, MO, Allen Hern. Their children were:
