Born Eliza Jane Brunts to the 2nd marriage of John Brunts, Sr. from Kentucky and Mary Jane Heath which took place 11 Dec 1849 in Platte Co. MO. She was one of four children born in this second marriage. (The John L. Brunts buried in this cemetery was also a child of John Brunts, Sr. but from his first marriage which produced 12 children.) While her headstone reads born 1849 she was actually born 1850 or 1851 as she was their first child. This is born out in census of her earlier years.

Eliza Jane Brunts had two marriages. She married first 22 Dec 1869 in Platte Co MO, Warren Thomas Metcalf/Metcalfe. They are in 1870 census living in Liberty Twp, Clay Co MO. He is 29 she is 18. Her father died Feb 15, 1859 and her mother in 1883. While married to Warren T. Metcalf she contested the Will of her father over property left to the four children equally. It was a contentious battle against her siblings which did not conclude until 1875 when the land was equally apportioned out and each of the four children got their one fourth equally. The story is on her fathers memorial, as is his will naming Eliza. Annals of Platte Co. MO mentions that she married twice, the 2nd a Summerfield. That turned out to be a Summerville.

She married 2nd 24 Feb 1884 in Valley Falls, Jefferson Co. KS. Joseph Summerville born in Pennsylvania. On the 1900 census for Jefferson Co KS the couple say they have had 5 children, but only 2 are living:
Frank Summerville born Jan 1888 MO
Lucy Maria Summerville born June 1894 KS

While 'Lida' is a nickname she was Eliza in the 1900 census. The 'B' listed as her middle name stands for Brunts, her maiden name. Her middle name was Jane.
